BALLPARK PIANO VALUES
PLEASE NOTE: These values are meant as a rough idea only! You
should always check with a professional piano technician when considering an
instrument for purchase or listing a piano for sale. Prices vary depending on
condition and market area. Do not rely on your own inspection to determine the
condition of a piano. It takes a
professional to determine a piano's condition, even if it sounds and plays
great. A piano will continue to make some kind of sound when a key is struck
long after major, expensive repairs are needed. Prices below are intended as a
rough guide for average condition, average sounding, average playing, and
average looking pianos. Pianos showing exceptional tonal, playing or appearance
characteristics will command a higher price, those with below average
characteristics will be lower. Name brand pianos such as Kawai, Yamaha,
Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Knabe, Chickering, Baldwin, etc. will command higher prices. These are prices from individuals - dealers will charge
a slightly higher price for the service work, guarantees, delivery and tuning
that should be included with a purchase from a dealer.
