The Ragland Piano Company is owned and operated by Howard Gustafson, and has two additional employees - Roy Herzig and Ryan Brown - "viceroy" of the print music department (lots of places have vice presidents, but WE have a viceroy.....) who also happens to be my nephew.  My 11 year old son has also been helping out in the shop after school a day or two per week, the third generation to work in the piano business.

Ragland Piano Company specializes in sales of new and used pianos, and the repair and servicing of pianos and player pianos, including the paper roll type and the computer disk or CD operated variety.  Restorations are performed utilizing the same quality in workmanship and materials wherever possible that the manufacturers used in the early part of this century.  Ragland Piano Company is factory certified to perform PianoDisc installations and service, and has performed installations and service of all PianoDisc player systems, from the early PDS-1000 to the current, state-of-the-art iQ and PDS-228CFX.  We often do service work or installations for other dealers who do not have the facility or staff to do difficult or in depth repair work.

The Ragland Piano Company started out as Precision Player Pianos in Memphis, Tennessee about 1991. I had been servicing pianos since 1985, but had always shared space with my father or a music store. In March of 1996, the business was moved to Texarkana, USA, and was operated out of a 550 square foot back room of an insurance office until a more suitable place could be located. In March of 1997, I located a building popularly known as the Ragland building in downtown Texarkana (8000+ square feet). Since the building had been called the Ragland building since about 1920, I decided, with Mrs. Ragland's permission, to incorporate the name of the building into the name of my business. In March of 1997 Precision Player Pianos became The Ragland Piano Company, and the focus of the business began to include retail sales. Many people in Texarkana (especially the long-term residents) can locate the business just by the Ragland name.
